Tesla has announced the opening of its first showroom and experience center in Mumbai, India, scheduled for July 15, 2025. Located in the Bandra Kurla Complex, this launch marks Tesla’s commitment to the Indian market. The company has imported around $1 million worth of vehicles and charging equipment in preparation. While the Indian government is keen on having Tesla establish manufacturing facilities, the company has opted not to pursue local manufacturing at this time. Additionally, Tesla continues to report strong global sales growth and is expanding its Robotaxi services.
Tesla has announced plans to open its inaugural showroom and experience center in Mumbai, India on July 15, 2025. The highly anticipated location will be situated in the Bandra Kurla Complex, a prominent business district known for its commercial activities.
In preparation for this launch, Tesla has imported approximately $1 million worth of vehicles, charging equipment, and merchandise into India between January and June 2025. This shipment includes six Model Y vehicles, with five standard variants valued at $32,500 each and one long-range variant valued at $46,000. Additionally, several Superchargers and related accessories were also brought into the country, signifying Tesla’s commitment to establishing a presence in the Indian market.
The Indian government has been eager to attract Tesla to set up manufacturing operations within its borders. Despite this interest, Tesla has conveyed that it currently has no plans to establish manufacturing facilities in India. This decision could impact the speed with which Tesla grows its footprint in one of the largest automotive markets globally.
Tesla’s global sales have been on an upward trajectory, with notable increases reported in various international markets. In June 2025 alone, sales in Norway soared by 54% year-over-year, largely driven by strong demand for the Model Y, which experienced an astonishing 115% increase compared to the previous year. The growth in Norway was particularly remarkable in May, with sales jumping a staggering 213%.
Moreover, Tesla has reported significant sales increases in other European markets, including a 61% rise in Spain and a 7% rise in Portugal during the same month. Such growth underscores Tesla’s robust demand in the international automotive landscape.
In tandem with these developments, Tesla is also advancing its Robotaxi expansion plans. CEO Elon Musk has indicated intentions to broaden Robotaxi services, particularly focusing on the Bay Area and increasing operations in Austin, Texas. Discussions are currently being held with Arizona transportation regulators to certify a driverless Robotaxi service in that state.
The pilot program for Robotaxi began in Austin on June 22, 2025, and plans are in place to expand this fleet to approximately 1,000 vehicles shortly. Tesla intends to enhance its Robotaxi offerings with the new Cybercab, a two-seater vehicle designed without a steering wheel, with volume production set to begin in 2026.
Tesla’s Annual Shareholder Meeting for 2025 is scheduled for November 6, 2025, with key proposals set to be submitted by July 31. The meeting is expected to address important company strategies and performance insights as Tesla continues to navigate both market opportunities and competitive challenges.
