China Airlines will commence direct flights connecting Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport with Taipei, Taiwan. Starting December 3, the service will operate three times weekly using the Airbus A350-900, marking a historic milestone as the first non-stop flights to Asia from this airport. The new route aims to accommodate the growing demand for business travel between the U.S. and Taiwan, alongside an additional service by Starlux Airlines planned for early 2026. This development enhances Phoenix’s status as a competitive travel destination.
Phoenix – Starting December 3, 2025, China Airlines will offer direct flights connecting Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) and Taipei, Taiwan (TPE). This new service marks a significant milestone for Phoenix Sky Harbor, as it introduces the first non-stop flights to Asia from this airport.
The new flight schedule will operate three times a week, although the specific days have yet to be released. Passengers can expect a non-stop outbound flight from Taipei to Phoenix, while the return journey will include a stop at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). This arrangement provides travelers with additional flexibility when planning their trips between the United States and Taiwan.
China Airlines will operate this new route using the Airbus A350-900, a modern aircraft known for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort. The A350-900 is configured to accommodate 306 passengers across three classes: 32 in business class, 31 in premium economy, and 243 in economy class.
The announcement of China Airlines’ new service coincides with the introduction of flights by Starlux Airlines, which plans to start direct service between Phoenix and Taipei in January 2026. This initiative by Starlux Airlines was announced in May 2025. Both airlines have recognized the growing demand for travel between Taiwan and the U.S., a trend particularly fueled by increasing business interactions in technology and semiconductor sectors.
Phoenix has been identified as an emerging tech hub with an increased demand for business travel, significantly as production ramps up at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s facilities in the area. This evolving landscape has prompted airlines to enhance their offerings in order to benefit from the growing number of passengers traveling between these regions.
The introduction of these direct flights is expected to facilitate both business travel and tourism, bolstering economic relationships between Taiwan and the United States. With the availability of non-stop flights, Phoenix is becoming a more competitive travel destination for individuals from Taiwan, appealing to both tourists and business travelers alike.
As part of the SkyTeam alliance, China Airlines offers extensive opportunities for travelers to engage in frequent flyer programs, enhancing travel options for passengers on this new route. The robust domestic and international networks available through such alliances provide a comprehensive array of flights, making travel more seamless and connected.
The launch of direct flights from Phoenix to Taipei by China Airlines is poised to cater to the rising interest in travel between Asia and the U.S. The establishment of this route not only supports the growing demand from travelers but also reflects the overall expansion of international service options out of Phoenix. With this increase in connectivity, travelers can look forward to enhanced accessibility and better travel experiences as they navigate between these two dynamic regions.
