Rendering of the light rail train as part of the Phoenix expansion project.
Phoenix is witnessing a significant opportunity for community engagement with upcoming meetings on light rail expansion projects by Valley Metro. Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts during two community input sessions on May 3 and May 8, 2025. The projects include the Capitol Extension and the I-10 West extension, which aim to enhance connectivity in the city. Additionally, an online feedback option will be available for those unable to attend in person. With the anticipated opening of the South Central Extension in June 2025, the light rail system is set to grow and serve more residents.
Hey there, Phoenix! Get ready to be a part of something big. The city is buzzing with the news that Valley Metro and our very own city officials are stepping up efforts to involve YOU in shaping the future of transportation in our area. They’re hosting community input meetings specifically for two light rail expansion projects that could change the way we move around town.
If you want to share your thoughts, be sure to mark your calendars for May 3 and May 8, 2025. That’s when these community meetings will take place at Neighborhood Ministries, conveniently located near 19th Avenue and Van Buren Street. Here, you’ll have the chance to voice your opinions on how both projects can best connect our bustling downtown with the state capitol.
The spotlight is on two main projects: the Capitol Extension and the I-10 West extension. The Capitol Extension will stretch 1.6 miles, linking downtown Phoenix directly to the state capitol. Meanwhile, the I-10 West extension will be a much larger, 10-mile connection that will serve as a bridge between central Phoenix and the thriving area of west Phoenix. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?
During the meetings, attendees can also expect an update on the designs for the Capitol Extension project. This is a fantastic opportunity to hear from the folks behind the projects, and give your two cents on what you’d like to see.
For those who can’t attend in person, there’s great news! From May 3 through June 2, 2025, residents can still provide their feedback online. This way, everyone gets a chance to chime in, no matter how busy life gets!
The South Central Extension will feature a new transit hub in downtown Phoenix, complete with new stations and stunning public art. Talk about a visual feast while you’re commuting!
So there you have it, Phoenix! Stay tuned for more updates, and don’t miss your chance to make an impact at the upcoming meetings. We’re shaping the future of our city together, one train ride at a time!
