Phoenix is set to welcome a new dual-branded hotel complex, comprising the AC Hotel by Marriott Norterra and the Element by Westin Norterra, scheduled to open in November 2025. This innovative project will feature a total of 278 guest rooms, including 182 rooms in the AC Hotel and 95 rooms in the Element by Westin. It is strategically positioned at 25100 N. 22nd Lane, near the intersection of West Happy Valley Road and Norterra Parkway, making it a prime location for both leisure and business travelers.
Mark Hayes has been appointed as the general manager for both hotels, overseeing daily operations and ensuring a high standard of service for guests. The development of these hotels promises to create a significant number of jobs in the area, with an estimated 60 full-time and 20 part-time positions anticipated upon completion.
The AC Hotel will embody a European style characterized by modern design elements, catering to a sophisticated clientele. Guests will appreciate the inclusion of the AC Kitchen, where European-inspired breakfasts will be served, in addition to the AC Lounge, designed for co-working and evening gatherings. The hotel aims to create a comfortable yet stylish environment, making it an attractive option for travelers.
In contrast, the Element by Westin is tailored for extended stays and features eco-friendly innovations, including oversized windows to maximize natural light and in-room water filtration systems. The hotel is designed to meet the needs of guests seeking longer-term accommodations without compromising on comfort or sustainability. Collectively, the hotels will also offer approximately 8,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, suitable for business conferences and events.
The complex is equipped with various amenities to enhance the guest experience, including a saline pool, a heated spa, a fitness center, and an event lawn for outdoor gatherings. Unique offerings include two Top Golf Swing Suites, providing sports and entertainment options for guests wanting to unwind after a busy day. These amenities are set to redefine the hospitality landscape in Phoenix, catering to the diverse needs of visitors.
The project broke ground in May 2024 and is a collaborative effort between Jackson-Shaw, a North Texas-based developer, and Holualoa Companies, based in Tucson. Construction financing has been provided by Simmons Bank, while Layton Construction has been appointed as the general contractor for the development.
The Norterra neighborhood is currently experiencing significant growth, reinforced by the presence of major economic drivers in the area, including the recently established TSMC semiconductor plant. This development is expected to further bolster the economic landscape of the region, attracting visitors from various sectors.
Michael George, CEO of Crescent Hotels & Resorts, has noted the potential business growth opportunities in the Norterra area, signaling a promising future for this dual-branded hotel project. As the community continues to thrive, the AC Hotel by Marriott Norterra and the Element by Westin Norterra will play a pivotal role in accommodating the influx of business and leisure travelers, solidifying Norterra’s status as a desirable destination in Phoenix.
