Families gather at a Phoenix back-to-school event filled with fun activities and essential school supplies.
As families prepare for the upcoming school year, various organizations in the Phoenix area are launching assistance programs. Events like the ‘Back-to-School Bash’ at the Chandler Fashion Center will offer school supply giveaways, entertainment, and essential resources for K-12 students. Local initiatives, including backpack distributions and community fairs, aim to provide crucial support, helping students and their families meet the challenges of a new school year. These efforts reflect a collective commitment to educational readiness and student well-being across the Valley.
Phoenix – In an effort to aid families as they prepare for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year, numerous organizations and businesses in the Phoenix metro area are rolling out a series of assistance programs, including school supply giveaways, backpack distributions, and other essential resources. A variety of events are scheduled across the Valley in the weeks leading up to the new school year, providing critical support to K-12 students and their families.
One of the key events will take place at the Chandler Fashion Center, which will host a “Back-to-School Bash”. This event promises carnival games, live entertainment, and opportunities for families to win prizes and gift cards. Scheduled activities include balloon animals and photo opportunities for children on Friday, while Saturday’s highlights will feature free sneaker customization by a local artist, available on a first-come, first-served basis, and a “glow-up station” hosted by Sephora.
Beyond the Chandler event, several local initiatives contribute to the community’s back-to-school efforts. Notable programs include:
The new school year for Arizona students will commence on different dates, with some districts starting in mid-July and others in early August. The Chandler Unified School District and the Maricopa County Regional School District are set to kick off the school year on July 16; however, districts like Phoenix Union High School District will begin in early August.
In line with the school supply efforts, the Tools 4 School event in Phoenix is anticipated to distribute thousands of supplies and backpacks to K-8 students on July 12. In an initiative to support continuity in health and education, the Equality Health Foundation has prepared 2,000 backpacks that will be provided during well-child visits that also include various health services. This effort underscores the connection between students’ well-being and their educational preparedness.
On July 26, Community Bridges, Inc. in partnership with TruWest Credit Union will hold a giveaway event in Mesa aimed at supporting K-12 students. Meanwhile, the Children’s Cancer Network is actively collecting school supplies specifically for pediatric cancer patients, alleviating some of the financial stress families may face as the school year approaches.
The Salvation Army is also contributing with its Backpack SOS program, which is currently accepting donations of backpacks and supplies at Fry’s Food Stores from July 7 through July 27. This initiative is essential for ensuring that students in need have the necessary resources to begin their school year.
As part of its efforts on July 19, Adelante Healthcare’s Super Bash will provide backpacks and supplies to 450 K-12 students. This initiative illustrates the collective commitment among Phoenix metro area organizations to ensure that all children have access to the tools they need for success as they head back to school.
