Help bring joy to families in Phoenix this Easter by contributing donations for Easter baskets.
With Easter nearing, families in Phoenix are struggling financially and need assistance to celebrate the holiday. The Phoenix Rescue Mission is rallying the community to donate items for Easter baskets but is currently a few hundred baskets short of their goal. Donations are needed for items like toys, treats, and essential supplies. The deadline for donations is April 9, ahead of an Easter Giveaway Event on April 12. Community members are encouraged to contribute to help those in need and ensure a joyful celebration for families.
As Easter quickly approaches, families across Phoenix are feeling the strain of financial burdens that can make celebrating the holiday difficult. Many families lack the means to enjoy cherished holiday traditions. In response, the Phoenix Rescue Mission is rallying the community to help fill hundreds of Easter baskets for those in need. However, they’re currently a few hundred baskets short of their goal, and with the clock ticking down to Easter Sunday, a push for donations is underway!
The organization is on the lookout for various items to create these much-needed Easter baskets. Whether it’s toys, treats, or essential supplies, every little bit helps! Specific items needed for the baskets include:
In addition to the items listed, the Mission is also collecting nonperishable food items, hygiene items, and household cleaning supplies. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life!
To ensure everything is ready for the Easter Giveaway Event, donations need to be received by Wednesday, April 9. The drop-off hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the PRM’s warehouse, located at 2515 N 34th Dr., Phoenix, AZ, 85009.
The Phoenix Rescue Mission is organizing an Easter Giveaway Event on Saturday, April 12, aiming to serve nearly 500 families. That means approximately 1,000 Easter baskets, hygiene kits, and cleaning supplies are set to be distributed, providing joy and relief to those who need it most.
Reflecting on past events, the previous Easter giveaway on March 23 aimed to distribute an impressive 1,700 baskets. However, now there’s a rising concern, as many families in Phoenix are grappling with food and financial insecurities, making the celebration of Easter harder than usual.
But wait, there’s more! The Mission is hosting an exciting Easter Community Celebration on April 13 featuring activities like a carnival, bounce houses, and, of course, an Easter egg hunt. This year’s event has already attracted registration from 1,200 children from low-income and working-poor families. The aim is to provide 1,500 Easter baskets for the children attending the celebration, but the Mission is still short approximately 600 baskets this year!
Your generosity goes a long way—donations help reduce the overall costs, enabling the Phoenix Rescue Mission to reach and serve more people in the community. In addition to the items mentioned above, the organization is also looking for food contributions for meal boxes. Remember, all donations for the event need to be delivered by April 5 to the Mission Donation Warehouse at 3440 W. Lewis Ave., Building A Suite G, Phoenix.
And if you’re looking to get involved directly, volunteers are welcomed with open arms! Interested individuals can sign up at prm.volunteerhub.com or contact the Volunteer Services team directly.
If you have questions about donations, feel free to reach out to Catie Hammann at chammann@phoenixrescuemission.org or give her a call at (602) 346-3347. Let’s come together this Easter and make a lasting impact on our community!
