Phoenix – The Arizona Cardinals have announced updated plans for a new training facility that will significantly enhance their training operations. The facility will be located at Paradise Ridge in north Phoenix, situated west of Scottsdale Road and north of the Loop 101. Spanning 30 acres of a total 217-acre mixed-use site, the facility will cover more than 250,000 square feet, marking a considerable expansion compared to their current training center.

The completion of the new facility is scheduled for 2028. The Cardinals acquired the property for $136 million at auction during the summer, a strategic investment aimed at providing improved training conditions for the players and coaching staff. The decision to relocate came after the team explored upgrading their existing training center, the Dignity Health Training Center in Tempe, which occupies 14 acres and measures 156,000 square feet. Ultimately, officials concluded that a new site would better meet the growing needs of the organization.

Arizona Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill expressed that the new facility is crucial for fostering optimal training conditions. The design is set to be undertaken by Rossetti, a highly regarded sports architecture firm known for their work in large-scale sports venues. The facility will include three natural grass outdoor practice fields and an indoor fieldhouse complete with a full-size turf field. Additional amenities will feature a modernized locker room, advanced weight room, dedicated strength and conditioning areas, sports medicine and athletic training zones, meeting rooms, and a player lounge.

Beyond the training facility, the remaining area of the Paradise Ridge site will be developed into a mixed-use complex. This area has the potential to host corporate headquarters, restaurants, retail spaces, medical facilities, and residential developments, aiming to create a vibrant environment complementary to the training center. The City of Phoenix, along with the Arizona Commerce Authority, is collaborating with the Cardinals to make the mixed-use aspect of the project a reality.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego has described this facility as a game-changing investment for the community, highlighting the positive impact it is expected to have economically and socially. Meanwhile, Tempe Mayor Corey Woods has extended gratitude to the Cardinals for their longstanding relationship and offered best wishes for their new development chapter. This new project represents a significant shift, as the location was previously associated with plans for an NHL team after the Arizona Coyotes moved to Utah, although those plans ultimately did not come to fruition.

The Arizona Cardinals’ new training facility at Paradise Ridge is poised to become a cornerstone of the team’s future operations, further strengthening their commitment to excellence on and off the field. With the anticipated state-of-the-art amenities and ample space for training and development, the new facility reflects an investment in the team’s growth and the overall enhancement of the community surrounding it.
