Phoenix and Scottsdale Investigate Multiple Fatal Shootings

Phoenix and Scottsdale authorities are investigating three separate fatal shootings that resulted in four victims over a short span of days. The incidents raised concerns in both communities and prompted police departments to release crucial details and solicit public assistance.

In Phoenix, a shooting on Thursday afternoon left two men dead. The incident unfolded around 3 p.m. at the intersection of 67th Avenue and Indian School Road. The victims were identified as 36-year-old Mario Martinez, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and 33-year-old Luis Mendez-Armenta, who succumbed to his injuries shortly after being taken to the hospital. Law enforcement officials have named 34-year-old Emmanuel “Manny” Rojas as a person of interest in the shooting. Authorities have urged the public to avoid approaching Rojas and to report any sightings of him immediately to Silent Witness at 480-948-6377, where tips can be given anonymously. Information leading to an arrest may qualify the caller for a reward of up to $2,000.

Simultaneously, another tragic event took place in Scottsdale on June 30, just before 10 p.m. Multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire alerted local officers to a crash scene. They discovered a car that had veered into a ditch, with two individuals inside suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to the hospital, where they later died. The identities of these victims have not yet been released. The Scottsdale Police Department has stated they believe the shooting is an isolated event and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. Citizens with information about this incident are encouraged to call (480) 312-TIPS.

Days earlier, on June 27, detectives responded to a report of two women found dead with gunshot wounds at the Monterra Apartments near 24th and Willetta streets in east Phoenix. Authorities indicated that a neighbor reported the incident around 9 a.m. The victims were identified as 38-year-old Tiwayla Spencer and 36-year-old Marquisha Williams. So far, authorities have not disclosed any suspects and are not actively pursuing anyone in relation to the women’s deaths.

The recent wave of shootings has left residents of both Phoenix and Scottsdale on edge. With local authorities requesting the community’s assistance, the hope is to bring closure to these tragedies and prevent further violence.

Anyone who can provide additional information about any of these incidents is strongly encouraged to come forward and assist local law enforcement.
