Glendale, Arizona: Police Investigate Fatal Mass Shooting at Local Steakhouse

A mass shooting at El Camaron Gigante Mariscos & Steakhouse in Glendale, Arizona, on Sunday, May 4, 2025, has left three individuals dead and at least nine others injured. The shooting occurred around 7:45 p.m. during a Cinco de Mayo celebration at the restaurant.

The deceased have been identified as Damien Sproule, 17, and both Christopher Sproule and Milo Christopher Suniga, both 21 years old. Among the injured are a 20-year-old woman, a 20-year-old man, a 21-year-old woman, a 23-year-old man, and a 16-year-old boy. Emergency medical personnel quickly responded to the scene to provide assistance to those hurt, while some witnesses even attempted to help the injured.

At this time, Glendale Police suspect that multiple shooters were involved in the incident but have made no arrests thus far. Officer Moroni Mendez confirmed that there have been “multiple people shot” and that the police are questioning several detained individuals for information relating to the shooting. In an effort to further the investigation, police have released photos of persons of interest for the community’s assistance.

Witnesses reported hearing more than 20 rapid gunshots, followed by additional rounds, describing the pre-violence atmosphere as family-friendly. Many patrons had gathered to celebrate before the sudden explosion of violence. One witness recounted the experience of providing medical care to the wounded while noting that their vehicle sustained damage from stray bullets.

Authorities speculate that the shooting could be linked to conflicts between rival groups, although confirmations regarding gang affiliations have yet to be established. Following the tragic event, local business owners are advocating for a city-wide ban on nighttime cruise events that accompany lowrider meet-ups, citing concerns over violence and public safety. Conversely, some business owners argue that these gatherings positively contribute to foot traffic in downtown Glendale.

In the wake of the shooting, vigils were organized on May 6 to honor the victims, with family members expressing profound sorrow over their losses. Remembrance services highlighted the caring character of the individuals lost in the tragedy.

To support the ongoing investigation, the Glendale Police Department has set up a portal for the public to share any videos or photos related to the incident anonymously. This initiative aims to gather information that could help apprehend those responsible for the shooting.

In a notable development, as the investigation into this mass shooting unfolds, authorities arrested a suspect wanted for a double homicide in Salome, in proximity to Goodyear, around the same time. This arrest is indicative of ongoing law enforcement efforts to tackle violence in the region.

In unrelated news, authorities in nearby Bullhead City reported that damages were caused to two middle schools due to the “Chromebook Challenge,” a viral TikTok trend. Furthermore, police in Phoenix apprehended two men related to a series of armed robberies that took place in late April. In a separate case, a father charged with the death of his young daughter has been granted permission for a vacation in Hawaii while awaiting trial.

As the investigation into the mass shooting at El Camaron Gigante Steakhouse progresses, the Glendale community is reeling from the loss of life and the injuries sustained. The violence has sparked discussions regarding safety and public events within the city, highlighting an urgent need for concerted community and law enforcement collaboration.
