News Summary
Corcel Exploration Inc. has announced the commencement of its Phase 1 drill program at the Yuma King Project in Arizona, targeting copper and gold mineralization. The project, which includes approximately 2,000 meters of diamond drilling, aims to explore known Cu-Au mineralization extensions. Furthermore, the company plans to conduct Induced Polarization surveys to improve drill targeting. Historical drilling results show promise, and the upcoming program is touted as the most technically informed initiative at Yuma King to date.
Arizona – Corcel Exploration Inc. (CSE: CRCL) has announced the initiation of its Phase 1 drill program and supplementary surface exploration activities at its wholly owned Yuma King Project, located in west-central Arizona. The drill program, set to commence in winter 2025, marks the company’s first major effort in exploring the Yuma King Mine area, previously operational from 1940 to 1963.
The Phase 1 drill program is designed to encompass roughly 2,000 meters of diamond drilling, with a targeted focus on copper (Cu) and gold (Au) skarn and porphyry mineralization near the historically significant Yuma King Mine. Corcel aims to investigate multiple targets identified through recent drone magnetic and geochemical surveys, including eight to ten drill holes that will concentrate on the extensions of known Cu-Au mineralization.
To bolster the drill program, Corcel will also conduct around 8.5 line kilometers of new Induced Polarization (IP) surveying across several targets, such as Three Musketeers, Yuma King West, and the Yuma King Mine. This IP survey aims to gather high-resolution data that will allow for a comprehensive imaging of the subsurface at depths of approximately 400 meters, enhancing the precision of drill targeting.
Objectives and Anticipated Outcomes
The main goals set for the 2025 drill program include confirming past drill results, expanding known Cu-Au mineralization along both strike and down dip, and uncovering new regions of high-grade Cu-Au mineralization. The initial focus will be on skarn/replacement and porphyry mineralization, with the geological complex remaining open in various directions and at depth.
Previous drilling activities at the Yuma King Mine have shown promising results, reporting significant intersections such as 0.78% Cu, 0.53 g/t Au, and 6.3 g/t Ag over 45.4 meters in Cu-Au skarn. This historical data serves as a strong foundation for the current exploration efforts.
Data Analysis and Target Refinement
Throughout the program, Corcel will leverage visual and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) analysis to optimize and potentially re-prioritize drilling based on findings as they progress. Additionally, geophysical and hyperspectral data gathered during the Phase 1 exploration may further refine target priorities and strategies.
The Yuma King Project encompasses an expansive area of 3,200 hectares, consisting of 515 unpatented federal mining claims within the Ellsworth Mining District. Currently, Corcel holds a long-term lease agreement for this project and maintains full ownership of the Willow copper project.
As part of their strategic approach, Corcel is preparing for further geophysical surveys and hyperspectral imaging, aimed at enhancing geological models and supporting in-depth drill targeting. The company notes that the historical exploration data cited in the program is considered accurate but has yet to be verified due to limited access to original materials.
Future Plans
The outcomes of the Phase 1 IP survey, which will merge recently collated historical data with ongoing geological and geochemical assessments, are expected to play a crucial role in determining targets for a potential Phase 2 drill program. This iterative exploration strategy indicates Corcel’s commitment to refining its understanding of the Yuma King mineralization.
Corcel Exploration Inc. continues to grow its portfolio through focused exploration efforts, with its CEO Jon Ward highlighting that the upcoming drill initiative is poised to be the most technically informed program ever undertaken at the Yuma King site.
